Activities

For children and adults

22 Years of experience

From 2002 to 2024, 5.440 school groups

Within the privileged surroundings of Castle Loarre, we organise activities which are specially adapted to the ages of the participants.

We adapt the content of our guided visits to the learning requirements of different educational years.

We suggest a series of activities based on both fun and learning. Through games and skills which take us back to times long past.

These activities are enacted by experienced staff, who put them into context and get the children to participate in them.

Treasure Map

Will you findthe treasure?

3,00 €
For children
aged 4 to 12
years

This activity is designed to carry out on your own or as a pair, and consists of finding the hidden Treasure by resolving 10 tasks during your visit to the Castle.

The price of the activity includes the Treasure Map, a pencil depicting the Castle logo and the "Treasure", a coin with a reproduction of the Castle Christogram.

We recommend that you carry out the activity during your guided visit, that way children will understand the whole visit and will be able to resolve the 10 tasks.

After discovering the secret words, look for images on the pillars, marks on the stones and in hidden places during the tour. Children will discover the keyword and, once back at the Visitor Centre, they can tell us what it is and obtain the "Treasure".

Various levels are available according to age, from 4 to 12 years old.

Approximate duration: 1 hour.
Minimum group size: 1 participant.

Assault on the Castle

How was a medieval castle attacked and defended?

2,00 €
For children
aged 7 to 12
years

We divide the children into two groups: one will attack the Castle (the Moors) and the other group will defend it (the Christians). The Christian group begins with an audiovisual presentation in the Visitor Centre, followed by a presentation for the Moors group.

Once the presentation is over, we explain the activity and the rules to both groups and distribute the materials required for attacking or defending the Castle: shield, sword and chest guard depicting the group emblem in the shape of armour.

While we visit through the rooms in the Castle interior, we will discover the secrets hidden within this unique building and, little by little, we will organise the troops and prepare for the final battle in the enclosed area in the highest part of the Castle.

Approximate duration: 2 hours.
Minimum group size: 20 participants.

Playing in memory

What did they play at othertimes in history?

2,00 €
From
7 years
of age

This activity consists of discovering and enjoying some of the traditional games of our region.

The activity is designed for any person and is generally carried out in the esplanade at the front of the Castle after the guided tour.

We use the common activity of play to explain how children lived and entertained themselves in their daily life and compare this to the present day.

Games like "birlos" (skittles), "herraduras" (hoops) and "pulso de pica" (pushing your opponent out of the circle), are some of the games that we will discover and have fun playing.

Approximate duration: 1 hour.
Minimum group size: 20 participants.

Medieval tournament

A day of celebration in the Middle Ages

2,00 €
For children
aged 7 to 12
years

We divide the children into various groups, as they will have to compete against each other, and we will select a captain who wears a jester hat so that he/she can be distinguished from the others.

In this activity, we carry out various tests (questions about the Castle, jousting, crossing the drawbridge, juggling...). Through these activities we recreate a day of celebrations in the Middle Ages following the customs of those times.

For each test, the children will be equipped with the materials to recreate the character (armour, jesters hat, juggling equipment...) and when they achieve the task, they are rewarded with coins of the period.

Approximate duration: 1 hour.
Minimum group size: 20 participants.
